Mental Health and Well-being for Families
Our mental health and wellbeing vision
Springmead School is committed to promoting and protecting emotional wellbeing and mental health in our school. Our overall aim is to help children and adults develop resilience and coping strategies to support their overall wellbeing; now and in the future. We will make this happen by:
- Effectively working with parents and carers to forge a strong partnership, including providing opportunities to develop their own knowledge and understanding around emotional wellbeing and mental health.
- Helping children to become resilient learners through supportive strategies including strategies to help regulation
- Teaching children, through our ‘Personal Health and Social Education’ (PHSE) curriculum, the social and emotional skills to support their positive mental health and wellbeing.
- Early identification of support for children who have mental health needs, to support them. This includes working with multi-agencies and specialist services.
- Supporting staff to develop their skills and resilience.
- Recognising the stigmas surrounding mental health issues. The school works hard to create an open and positive culture in our whole school community.

The National Sleep Helpline 03303 530 541
The National Sleep Helpline helps anyone with sleep issues including adults, parents and young people. The helpline is available from 7pm and 9pm, Sunday to Thursday on 03303 530 541.
Poor sleep can affect anyone and it can be a major stress for parents whose own sleep can be impaired by their children's difficulties getting to sleep, staying asleep or staying in their own bed, leading to greater stress.
Having a sleep issue is surprisingly common. At any given time this affects up to 40% of adults and 50% of children (this rises to 80% with a SEND diagnosis). These problems are typically persistent and do not resolve themselves without intervention. Contact the National Sleep Helpline to nip sleep issues in the bud.
